photogénie #9 - boy howdy we've got a great new dossier over on photogénie and it features no fewer than three UltDog contributors. This issue (with a special focus on Duras & Rivette for the upcoming Cinea Summer Film College ) was edited by Charlotte Wynant (you might remember her short text on Akerman for this year's Women's Day compilation) and features texts by Ruairí McCann and yours truly (alongside two other great authors).
Jodie Mack - Ruairí has a new piece up on Alt/Kino about the work of experimental analog animator Jodie Mack, and it's so good that Mack wrote him up out of the blue in gratitude! If you haven't seen anything by Mack, you can catch many of the works mentioned in the article via her Vimeo page. Either way, be sure and give this a read.
In case you are someone who just can't get enough of my moving image work, here is a video self-portrait I made for a recent application, here is the first full trailer for my new feature film (the trailer will go public soon with a piece I wrote for Cinema Year Zero about the film), and here is a clip of raw footage from a recent little shoot I did of Valentin (who acts in the feature) break-dancing. If you want to see the super 8 film featured in the GIF above, shoot me a message (or subscribe to our Patreon to gain instant access!).
And in case you missed them, here are 3 recent UltDog articles:
Berlinale Shorts - six reviews of short films from this year's Berlinale Shorts selections, by Camilla Peeters and (new author!) Jack Seibert.
Essay: Kitchen Sink Realism
Review: Bella (2020)

For any ambient-heads out there, my friend Aaron Robinson (who scored my short film 'SCRUMBLED') has a field-recording focused album coming soon.
And on that note, Bandcamp is having another Juneteenth fundraiser (but on Friday, not Saturday), so if you've got something(s) on your wishlist, tomorrow would be a great day to grab a few. (If you haven't nabbed it already, consider Ruairí and I's ambient work as Two Nice Catholic Boys! Money spent on our music helps us commission authors for UD more often!)
As always, thank you so so so very much for your continuing support of our little passion project of a blog. I am really thrilled with how far we have come in the past year and we've got some great stuff planned for the future!! Tell a friend about us! Every reader helps.
Keep it always burning,
MLP
